VMware problem, symmpi error
I have a server HP Proliant DL380 G5, dual core Xeon 3.2GHz with SmartArray P400 (PCI-express). 3 SAS disks with RAID5. The server was installed with Linux SLES 10.1 and VMware Server 1.0.1 The guest OS, Windows server 2003 Ent SP1 with Exchange 2003 SP2, sometime has very slow response especially during backup or clients access. When this happen, event logs repeatedly show the following 2 errors. Sometime it hangs and reboot itself.
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Disk
Event Category: None
Event ID: 11
Description:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1.
Event Type: Error
Event Source: symmpi
Event Category: None
Event ID: 15
Description:
The device, \Device\Scsi\symmpi1, is not ready for access yet.
Does anyone know a solution to this problem?
Thanks.

Re: VMware problem, symmpi error
Thanks for advice. I looked through the old threads but did not found a solution for my case.
For more information.
- I've already update symmpi.sys to the latest version, 1.10.05.00
- LSI Logic PCI-X Ultra320 host adapter has been used.
- Add two REG_DWORD values to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\symmpi\Parameters
DisableDisconnects=1(decimal)
MaximumSGList=255(decimal)
Please let me know if anyone have more advice.
