Windows Server 32 bit O/S and Physical Address Extension
I'm thinking of getting new system which gen8 DL360. Are these processors able to support Windows server 2008 32 bit Ent?
1. Gen 8 E5-2420v2
2. Gen 8 E3-1220v3
3. Gen 8 E5-2630v2
Between, do we need to add and support using Physical Address Extension to support Windows 2008 Ent 32 bit?Or just solely for supporting from 4GB to 8GB?

Re: Windows Server 32 bit O/S and Physical Address Extension
I just seen the link.
For the DL360P & E support Windows 2008 ENT but still not sure if can support 32 bit other than 64 bit.
I'm new to server tech and am using 32 bit O/S to install on these server gen 8. Is there other hardware that require to support 32 bit run by the processor?

Re: Windows Server 32 bit O/S and Physical Address Extension
the processor can support 32 bits or 64 bits
I advise you to install OS 64 bits ;)

Re: Windows Server 32 bit O/S and Physical Address Extension
Meaning I can direct install the Svr 2008 32 bit O/S under this type of processor without having to add any hardware peripherals to support it?
Understand to install 64 bit is preferred, the application is still running under 32 bit and require to 32 bit O/S on the Gen 8 server.
Between, the PAE is required for the 8G RAM added from 4GB under 32 bit O/S running. How do I activate this or needs to install it through hardware or software?
can iLO be installed under 32 bit environment?

Re: Windows Server 32 bit O/S and Physical Address Extension
the limitation of Memory is from the OS not from Processor
OS 32 bits can support Max 4 GB
no equipment, can increase the memory in a 32 bit environment.
32-bit applications can beings installed in a 64-bit environment.
the iLO is an integrated RJ45 port on MOtherBoard and it works properly under 32 bits & 64 bits.
The majority of servers are installed in a 64 bit environment, to provide increased memory.
