Re: connect old scsi adapter to dl380g6

272653-001 is a

Ultra320 SCSI adapter - 64-bit, 133MHz dual channel PC board for PCI-X slot (Option 268351-B21)

http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=272653-001t

That is a PCI-X card.

Do you guys have the PCI-X riser board as seen in the quickspecs - http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13234_div/13234_div.HTML ?

Re: connect old scsi adapter to dl380g6

From the quickspecs the only SCSI HBA is this:

SCSI HBA
HP SC11Xe Ultra320 Single Channel/ PCIe x4 SCSI Host Bus Adapter
NOTE: Recommended HBA for SCSI tape drive connect.
412911-B2

-- It is quite likely that the one you had in the G3 will not work in the G6 --

I don't know of any options. You mean maybe something in the BIOS? Go ahead and take a look. Maybe firmware, maybe clearing the BIOS/CMOS/NVRAM may assist as well. But I don't think so.

Re: connect old scsi adapter to dl380g6

@Johan,
are you saying that either one of the cards you recommend (from the documentation) will work in the DL380 G6? That is good news!
I just received a card that will not fit (it is full length, full height) the half length half height stock riser card in the secondary PCI-X. . . (sigh)
* * *
Is it possible to find a riser card that will work to connect my full length full height PCI-X Ultra 320 SCSI card to the primary PCI-X slot. . .?
* * *
I'll go check it out and begin the search...

Re: connect old scsi adapter to dl380g6

I don't think you want to run with a card that's not supported. If you ever do get some problems and need help from HP first thing support will check is that..

Re: connect old scsi adapter to dl380g6

HP SC11Xe Ultra320 Single Channel/ PCIe x4 SCSI Host Bus Adapter
NOTE: Recommended HBA for SCSI tape drive connect. 412911-B21
NOTE: Please see the QuickSpecs for additional information:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12566_na/12566_na.html
(SC11Xe HBA)

This the only recommended SCSI adapter in quickspecs. I would use this one for compatibility.

Re: connect old scsi adapter to dl380g6

Thanks for the reminder... my experience with HP configuration (especially with dynamic and basic disks for storage ... sigh) ... fully demonstrates, to me anyway, that straying off the straight and narrow as determined by HP is only asking for trouble that will ultimately arrive at the most inopportune time. . .

I'm sticking with the recommended cards and configurations. . .

Until that time... Earl J.

Re: connect old scsi adapter to dl380g6

Earl J, most of the HP adapters come with full height and half height bracket that you change manually.
