dl360 G6: iLO2 FW update not registered
Hi, all
I've just updated the ILO2 FW from 1.82 to 2.07 by running the the .scexe file on the server. Update went fine, but ILO2 still returns v1.82:
</>hpiLO-> show map1/firmware1
status=0
status_tag=COMMAND COMPLETED
/map1/firmware1
Targets
Properties
version=1.82
date=03/31/2010
Attempting to reinstall 2.07 results in :
ERROR: Cannot write same firmware version. [rewrite 2.07=>2.07]
The update process looked like:
> sh CP015685.scexe
FLASH_iLO2 v1.12 for Linux (Aug 31 2009)
Copyright 2009 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Firmware image: ilo2_207.bin

Component XML file: CP015685.xml

This operation will update the firmware on the
iLO 2 in this server with version 2.07.
Continue (y/N)?y
Current firmware is 1.82 (Mar 31 2010 13:44:57)
Firmware image is 0x300000 bytes
Committing to flash part...
******** DO NOT INTERRUPT! ********
Flashing completed!
Attempting to reset device.
Succeeded.
Waiting for iLO 2 to reboot...
iLO 2 reboot completed.
Any idea what's happening? tia.

Re: dl360 G6: iLO2 FW update not registered
Hi,
I have no clue why this is happening but I have some suggestions.
We can reset iLO to Factory Defaults and see if that displays correct FW version.
You can reset iLO by this way:
1. Shutting down server and disconnecting power to the power supplies.
2 . HPONCFG /RESET from HPONCFG (iLO online configuration utility) will RESTORE iLO TO FACTORY DEFAULTS
Hope this helps.
I work for HPE.

Re: dl360 G6: iLO2 FW update not registered
Many thanks for the swift reply! Yes, i thought it was going to come down to this. Typical problem - once up, a server is hard to take down :) I'll get onto this asap and relay my findings.
cheers

Well, that worked ... then i applied an Advanced Pack Trial key and iLO2 reverted to 1.82! Nice trick! Still, as a proof-of-concept, it worked well. Kudo well-deserved. Thanks!
