install SCO 5.0.5 on proliant 800

hello,
I'm trying to install SCO 5.0.5 on proliant 800 for testing the backups from the production proliant 1600.
I've installed the compaq EFS and it picked up the NIC and video card. However, when I try to ping it won't work. Doing ifconfig -a shows the IP address. During the install of the EFS it asked for the IP info for the card. (I got the EFS from the smartstart CD version 5.50 if that helps) So, why won't it work?
Also, the video won't work either....startx times out.

I feel frustrated at having to mess around with this old system(OS), but the database running on it doesn't work on anything else!
