To install Linux using this "ProLiant Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (x86)" Driver Diskette, boot your Linux machine with your Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 CD1 in your CD-ROM Drive.
A menu will be displayed, prompting for your input. Type the following line of code to inform the operating system of the diskette:
# linux updates dd

Re: no hard drives found on DL380 G5 with RedHat ES 4
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/linux/dl380g5-drivers-cert.html
you need to be using 4.2 or later depending on the number of cores per processor.
I don't know that going to .2 (aka Update 2) will cause the cciss driver to be on the install media or if you will still need a separate driver disc/whatnot.
Also, keep in mind that the DL380G5 introduced a new NIC type on the motherboard, which is driven by the "bnx2" driver (IIRC) rather than the previous tg3 or bcm5700 driver and that too may not be in the plain RHES 4 bits...

Re: no hard drives found on DL380 G5 with RedHat ES 4
it works...
but, its just a little bit tricky.. found that no FDD attached on DL380 G5..
so.. i've to format my usb drive as a floppy.. ffhh..
once again,
tks dude..
but, the new NIC issue like what rick jones said, umh... it makes me confuse..
does it mean, i've to update the NIC driver when OS installation has complete or what??
cheers,

Re: no hard drives found on DL380 G5 with RedHat ES 4
As for finding drivers, I tend to start at www.hp.com, click on the "Support & Drivers" link and follow my nose from there.
Indeed, you want a bnx2 driver to drive the core NICs in a DL3280G5. I would also suggest starting from the supported RHEL version, not one which was earlier.
