unable to install Smartstart on 8 gig hard drive

I have replaced the SCSI hard drive from the original 2 gig scsi with a Seagate 8 gig scsi drive. The BIOS is the latest from Compaq. The original Smartstart 3.00 will easily do auto install with the 2 gig disk. The 8 gig disk with auto-install gets to mounting volume when an error "cannot mount volume sys" stops install. A manual install seems to work with files copied to the server. I can load install and work th server from the server prompt. The same autoexec.ncf and startup, ncf information is used since copied from the 2 gig files. The problem is that no workstation can find the server. Both the ethernet frame and server name are the same and correct on both server and workstation. I can only presume that the problem lies with the size of the new disk and some antiquated file on the old Smartstart 3.00 which does not properly set up the new 8 gig scsi disk.

What can I do to resolve the problem?

Thanks,
Sam

Re: unable to install Smartstart on 8 gig hard drive

8 gb SCSI drives are not supported by the embedded SCSI controller ....
Also make certain you load the PCNTNW.LAN as the NIC driver in the Server .
