DL360 G4 - spontaneous shutdown of server

For last month there were 2 shutdown a server.
All indicators on panele a server and disks - are switched off, button Power - burns green light. Inclusion of a server probably only after its switching-off from power supplies.
In Event Viewer one error message: the previous end of work at 16:47:50 was not planned.
The server is connected to APC SU3000RMINET.
Sophos Anti-Virus SBE message - virus not found.

What could occur to a server??

Hmm... check and see if the server is setup for automatic upgrades? That is usually ok with a workstation, but (I found out) not a good idea for a server. They tend to reboot themselves after a service pack update at the most inopurtune time.

Hi Cathy,

OS: Windows 2003 Standart SP1

The new software on a server was not established.

Have a look at the iLO event log, there you maybe find an entry that indicates a powerloss. There you can also find the IML (integrated management log) whre could be logged more informations.

Re: DL360 G4 - spontaneous shutdown of server

Hi Michael,

That didn't help!
Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) - disabled (is not used).
Unique record in HP Integrated Management Log:
IML Cleared (UserName) 18.11.2005 18:50.

Are there any ideas?

Re: DL360 G4 - spontaneous shutdown of server

Hi Vadim.

Is iLO really disabled or just not used?
If it is just not used there should be entries in the log, if it is really disabled I would enable but not connect it to the network, so it is safe but it logs power losses and resets.

Without iLO and no entries in eventlog but not planned end of work may be power loss, switching off or even hung of OS.

If you say power LED ist green this indicates server power is switched on.
If server power is switched on at least the NIC LEDs should burn or flash. If not, I guess hardware hung up.
