LC2000U3

Hi all,

I have an HP NetServer LC2000 U3 that's booting up and then just hangs after it goes past loading Windows screen. The problem is intermittent as sometimes it boots up ok, but on the whole it hangs on too many occasion as described above. Any suggestions please.

Re: LC2000U3

Which OS, does it only do it on cold boots or hard boots or both? Are you using the latest BIOS?

Re: LC2000U3

Hi Theo,

Doing it with both cold & hard boots on W2K Server, Spk2
Also, using latest BIOS. I suspect PSU or motherboard, as it's happening 98% of the time. Cheers.

Re: LC2000U3

I would lean mroe towards a software issue than a hardware issue. The best way to determine which is at fault is to run diag tools on the server, to verify the hardware functionality. You can find the diags application here:

remember to get diag tools not diag assistant.

Re: LC2000U3

What I'll try to do in these cases:
- check first as well the hardware event
log by booting from the hp navigator cd
(utilites/other utilities/system event log)
or look at the front panel
- run diagtools in a batch mode that it is
running for several hours or days.
if it then fails it looks more like a
hardware problem because it's running
in DOS mode.

hope's this helps.
