Migrate/Expand a RAID 1 to RAID 5 on a P410i
Hi all,
I'm trying to expand the capacity of a RAID 1, by adding a new disk and converting it to RAID 5.
Note: I'm using a 256MB cache.
Using the HP Array Configuration Utility, when I try to do this operation it reports:
=> show config
Smart Array P410i in Slot 0 (Embedded) (sn: 5001438009DE2250)
array A (SAS, Unused Space: 0 MB)
logicaldrive 1 (136.7 GB, RAID 1, OK)
physicaldrive 1I:1:1 (port 1I:box 1:bay 1, SAS, 146 GB, OK)
physicaldrive 1I:1:2 (port 1I:box 1:bay 2, SAS, 146 GB, OK)
array B (SAS, Unused Space: 0 MB)
logicaldrive 2 (273.4 GB, RAID 5, OK)

physicaldrive 2I:1:8 (port 2I:box 1:bay 8, SAS, 146 GB, OK)
SEP (Vendor ID PMCSIERA, Model SRC 8x6G) 250 (WWID: 5001438009DE225F)
=> array A add drives=1I:1:3
Error: This operation is not supported with the current configuration. Use the
"show" command on devices to show additional details about the
configuration.
Here is the configuration that I have:
=> show

Re: Migrate/Expand a RAID 1 to RAID 5 on a P410i
Hi André Silva,
Were you able to migrate the Raid 1 to Raid 5 by adding an additional Hard drive and upgrading 512 BBWC?
Please update us on the status.
thanks,
Aftab

Re: Migrate/Expand a RAID 1 to RAID 5 on a P410i
Good day. I have a similar sotuation. I wanted to migrate the RAID1 to RAID5. I have replaced the 256MB Cache with 512MB Cache. But there is still NO migrataion button in ACU (it is possible to add a new hard drive to the existing RAID1 array but not possible to migrate to RAID5)! Why? Screenshots attached. Thanks.

Re: Migrate/Expand a RAID 1 to RAID 5 on a P410i
HI, I read your post. Is it possible to add a drive and expand raid 1 without deleting the data?
