VCA: No Reference Support Pack from VCRM for W2k8R2 servers?

We are running the HP Version Control Repository Manager (version 6.0.0.840) on a W2k3 host. It is configured to download Support Packs for all five Windows OS (w2k3, w2k3x64, w2k8, w2k8x64 & w2k8R2).

All our Version Control Agents running on W2k3 are working fine with the VCRM. However the VCAs on our W2k8R2 servers do not work with the VCRM. The error message is:
"No inventory information is available to obtain a list of Support Packs from. A valid Version Control Repository Manager that contains one or more Support Packs must be configured before a Reference Support Pack may be selected. If you have just selected a repository, please wait a few minutes and then refresh this page. If you wish to continue to use the previously configured Reference Support Pack even though it is not currently available in this Version Control Repository Manager, then select it from the drop down box below."

Is there currently no W2k8R2 Support Pack available via VCRM, or did we do something wrong?

Re: VCA: No Reference Support Pack from VCRM for W2k8R2 servers?

We have an similar issue.

We cannot make a W2k8R2 custom Software Baseline because lot of the firmwares and drivers are missing for R2.

I tried some manually on a R2 Server with success but the problem ist, that the VCRM doesn't recognize them as R2 compatible...

I think that HP are not yet so far in developing things for R2 (another example is missing IE8.0 support for iLO2...)

We have still the same problem to date after trying 8.40(which btw creates a lot of additional mayham: we already opened a ticket).

Curious enough we have a w2k8r2 with 8.25a that has no problems connecting to the repository.
In other words, the beta version that is not supported works, but the other version don't.
Going to test 8.50

Re: VCA: No Reference Support Pack from VCRM for W2k8R2 servers?

I have 6.1.0.842 installed on the 2008R2 box, and my VCRM is installed on a 2003 x86 box. My VCRM is 6.1.0.841, would the slight difference in version cause this issue?

Re: VCA: No Reference Support Pack from VCRM for W2k8R2 servers?

Hi,

1)Is the VCRM homepage showing the psp bundles for W2k8 R2 and VCA configuring to VCRM could not find the psp? OR

2)VCRM is not able to download W2k8 R2 psp?

If second one is the problem,
Grab the PSP for w2k8 R2 from the below link and place it in the repository folder of VCRM and see this problem can be solved

The support pack for 2008 R2 is showing in VCRM.

When trying to configure the VCA to use the support pack on a 2008 R2 machine, there are no entries in the list to pick.

hi jdance,

I can see R2 x64 support packs in VCA.

You are using 8.40 PSP or 8.50 PSP in your VCRM?

HAVE you done VCRM upgrade from any previous version?

Can you create a "Custome software baseline" for windows 2008 R2 and VCA can see it?

Re: VCA: No Reference Support Pack from VCRM for W2k8R2 servers?

I imported PSP 8.50 into the VCRM. The Machine that hosts VCRM is using PSP 8.20 (I think).

Yes, I upgraded VCRM from 2.2 to 6.1.0.841.

I created a software baseline for windows 2008 R2, and VCA can see this. We don't normally create custom baselines though, and rely on using the downloaded (or uploaded) proliant support packs in VCRM.

Any thoughts on how to get the default 8.5 PSP for Win 2008 R2 working in VCRM?

(Thank you Predator and Logapriyan - your help is much appreciated!:)))

Re: VCA: No Reference Support Pack from VCRM for W2k8R2 servers?

you can check the VCRM's catalog page and see R2 Support pack is showing under which Operating system.

also can check if your Custome baseline and R2 PSP are showing under same Operating system.
