8gb Colorado on Windows 2000 Server compression problem
I have a windows 2000 server with 8gb Colorado Tape drive - works fine but does not compress data. I am using ntbackup and I select "compress data if available" during backup wizard however it will still only backup a little over 4gb - is there somewhere else to nominate that compression is to be used - e.g. hardware config. or should I try other software - I have downloaded HP backup software for win2k but it says it is not compatible with win2k server. How can i get it to back up 8gb? - help please!

Re: 8gb Colorado on Windows 2000 Server compression problem
Data compression is a function of software or hardware.
None of the HP Colorado tape drives has hardware compression.
The Windows NT backup applet will not provide data compression. All HP Colorado tape drives will yield native capacity when running under Windows NT backup.
You will need to get another backup software
You cannot use CBII since it does not work on servers, Try geting Tapeware software, and see how it goes.
