DLT1 Windows 2003 Server and System Backup
I get an Command Error at the last stage of backup, I beleive when is is saving the system infomation.
Error: The device reported an error on a request to write data to media.
Error reported: Invalid command.
There may be a hardware or media problem.
Please check the system event log for relevant failures.
The operation was ended.
Backup completed on 1/12/2004 at 3:12 PM.
Directories: 198
Files: 2698
Bytes: 516,312,101
Time: 1 minute and 52 seconds

Use the administrative tools -> event viewer to review the system logs, and see what messages were logged at the time of the backup.
You can also install HP library & tape tools (www.hp.com/support/tapetools) and generate a support ticket (select device, select support tool, save support ticket to file) and post it here - we can see if the drive logged any errors. However, if the drive rejected a command from the host it usually it not logged.

The system Event Log displays the same error that was in the backup log file.

OK, guess that doesn't help much. Generate a support ticket and let's look there.
You could also run the read/write test in LTT on that piece of media, although it sounds more like a software error (invalid command).
