HP 6400 dat drive question

I have a external SCSI HP 6400/4000DC dat drive and a SCSI card. I am not sure of the drives model number,on the bottom of the drive there are two model numbers, Model C1530B and Model C1533-60001?
Is it possible for me to use this drive using Windows 95,98,ME or 2000? I have tried backup applications Tapeware and Colorado Backup on a Windows 95 PC but neither application will see the Tape drive.

Re: HP 6400 dat drive question

Hi Steve,

The closest HP product I can find to the 6400/4000DC you describe is the Colorado Powertape 4000. I did find the following document that may be of assistance to you, assuming this is the product you own:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=lpg10630&locale=en_US&taskId=8414&taskName=setup%2C+install+%26+configure&prodSeriesId=63948&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesName=hp+colorado+powertape+4000&docId=41627

If this isn't the product you have, let us know some additional information so I can expand my search! Thanks.

Re: HP 6400 dat drive question

Hi Kathy, Steve,

I also have an HP 6400/ 4000DC. The bottom tag on the unit shows "Model:A3324N" and the tape drive inside is a C1533-66005. Mine uses a 50 pin Centronics cable.
It is a 4mm DAT DDS2, one of the old Surestore 6000 series,I believe. A real workhorse of a unit, well worth the effort.
