HP LTO-7 External Tape drive Platform
Dear Support,
we would like to purchase one of HP LTO-7 External Tape drive backup solution. let me know what kind of system configuration required for the smooth operation.
our educational environment , we are using the dell servers, we would like to plan migrate to HP brand Gradually .
the LTO-7 , is it support with dell servers. actually there havent any SAS 6GB interface vacant.
if install a SAS card over the PCI , is it work Well ?
the external drive work with windows 7 Too ?

funny thing is HP dont make an LTO7 its just a rebadged IBM drive now.
LTO7 uses 6GB sas so aslong as your server can take a 6Gb sas card (PCI-E) it should work fine.
Windows 7 works with any LTO drive

all LTO 6 at least are made by IBM or HPE, even quantum sells the HPE drives.
We are waiting for the "flape" now ...

you can clearly see this is an ibm drive, even the flap is ibm. and quantums LTO7 is an ibm drive also the firmware is G9Q1, which is ibm. i was also told this is the case

HP drive -
HP lids only cover the top and are held on by 4 screws at the top, ibm drives the lid covers the sides also and are the screws that hold it on are on the side.
