HP Proliant Server -DDS 12/24 SCSI Tape Drive

My server doesn't seem to recognise my DAT tape drive. When switched on, there is no system check on the tape drive even though the drivers for this tape drive are installed. I've checked to see if its seated properly on the system board.
Any suggestion /ideas.

Is this an internal or external DAT drive?

Is the SCSI bus terminated?

It is an internal DAT drive and it says "No tape device found" then shows me the drivers installed but wih (Not started) by it.
