HP StorageWorks DAT 72 USB and Linux
Hi,
I'm trying to use this usb tape drive in linux, on SME Server distribution (CentOS/RH4 based)...
it seem that the driver aren't loaded automatically so I've done:
modprobe usb_storage
modprobe st
and
lsmod | grep st
so I get
st 40285 0
usb_storage 62729 0
ipt_state 5953 1
ip_conntrack 46085 5 ipt_MASQUERADE,ipt_state,ip_nat_ftp,ip_conntrack_ftp,iptable_nat
ip_tables 22721 7 ipt_ULOG,ipt_REJECT,ipt_MASQUERADE,ipt_state,iptable_mangle,iptable_nat,iptable_filter
scsi_mod 117709 5 st,usb_storage,ahci,libata,sd_mod
but I still can't find any tape device... no /dev/st0 or /dev/nst0 or somewhat...
I'm a little newbie in linux, but I'd like to be able to use this tape drive, could someone help me?

Re: HP StorageWorks DAT 72 USB and Linux
try do:
tail -f /var/log/dmesg &
and disconnect and reconnect.
plus, check if you connect a usb-diskonkey.
is it showed up in /dev/ ?
you can msg me if you dont' want to show it up here... shaharf@gmail.com
