HP Surestore DAT 40 Backup error on Windows Server 2003
Hi.....
I am facing a backup problem on our Windows Server 2003 with HP Surestore DAT 40 External DAT drive(Model: C5687C.
It gives an error " There is no free media available with the selected type.Add unused media or click cancel to end the operation."
And error log gives " Cannot locate the specified media or backup device. This backup operation will terminate.
----------------------"
I Ticked the option Return Media to free media pool in removable storage Media pools.
Server OS: Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition with no Service pack.
Processor: Intel Xeon CPU 3.00GHz
Memory: 2GB
Tape Drive: HP Storage Works DAT 40 (DDS4) – External Drv
Driver Version : 1.5.2.3
Date : 08/25/2005
the Drive and SCSCI cable is OK I checked it on a same server with same Config and OS.
Help to srtout...
Thanks in advance.....

Re: HP Surestore DAT 40 Backup error on Windows Server 2003
Could you tell me what Backup software are you using?
If it's not NTBACKUP, please make sure to read this.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842411/en-us
RSM should be disable if you use anything other than NTBACKUP.
