HP suestore DAT40 tape backup compression setup
I have a HP dat 40 drive with
DDS4 tapes and I am trying to backup
data over 20Gig. I cannot seem to get the drive or software (Tapeware) to compress
the data. I cannot find in the software settings or Drive manual how to set the compression to "ON". Tapeware has some settings which are on but does the Drive have
dip switches to change to compress data?
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any help.

Re: HP suestore DAT40 tape backup compression setup
All bottom dip switches should be on except 3rd should be off. To check compression state and how well it works please use LTT http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/ltt/index.html

Re: HP suestore DAT40 tape backup compression setup
Hi,
The switches is by default set to hardware compression=ON. Is your data perhaps already compressed ? If so, you don't get any compression in the drive.
