Help with old compaq dlt drive
Can someone with a bit more DLT savvy please help me.
I have bought an old compaq DLT 15/30 drive off e-bay for home backups. The drive is installed on a win2k machine and is recognised as a DEC DLT 2000 tape drive (although the drive says 15/20 on it and even has the 15GB LED).
Now problem is that when I try to do a backup it always complains that there is no tape in the drive.
The tape I have purchased is a Qunatum DLTtape IIIXT.
Even DLT tools claims there is no media (it does however claim that the drive is a DLT2000XT drive). So am I using the wrong tape, do I need some firmware update or what??
Unfortunatly since HP took over the compaq site has little info on their older products - this is a shame.
Thanks in advance
Anthony

Re: Help with old compaq dlt drive
Anthony,
I only found page for 20/40 http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/dlt2040/index.html and drivers for NT4 and w2k http://wwss1pro.compaq.com/support/TSSD2/details.asp?modelID=11&pid=-1 . Try using HP LTT http://www.hp.com/cposupport/information_storage/support_doc/lpg50128.html

Re: Help with old compaq dlt drive
Eugeny,
Thanks for that but unfortunatly none if it worked. Those drivers dont show up any other drives than the compaq 7000, 8000 and SDLT drives and the HP Storageworks find the drive but claims it to be a unsupported drive.
Thanks anyway.
