MSL2024 Doesnt Select the Right tape
Hi All
We have just invested in a MSL2024 Tape library, and are using backup exec 11d.
When we are performing backups it always seems to use the tape in the next slot. i.e.
Mondays tape backed up succesfully and used the correct tape from slot 1, we then had to run another seperate backup job on monday so the tape library seems to have used slot 2, which is were tuesdays tape should be.
Now when the backup job for tuesday runs, it uses slot 3. so then all the tapes get out of sync.
Is there anyway to reset the device so it starts from a certain slot number?
Regards
Graeme

Re: MSL2024 Doesnt Select the Right tape
Are you using Backup Exec without changer support?
If you are running in stacker mode the library will always automatically change to the next tape when a backup completes and the application rewinds the tape. You can reset the library back to the previous slot by manually unloading the tape in the drive and reloading the previous tape.
If you are using the changer support in Backup Exec then you need to configure the software to allow appends to the media and probably create media pools for each day. I haven't tried that level of customization with BE. I mostly use Data Protector.
