SCSI RAID Controller should detect an Ultrium 448 SCSI internal tape?

I have an Adaptec 2110S SCSI RAID controller and an Ultrium 448 SCSI internal Tape. If I connect them, when the SCSI Raid controller initiates, it doesn't  find any device.

I tried it with an Adaptec AHA 2940 SCSI adapter, but it doesn't find the Ultrium Tape. However, it finds the external DAT 40 tape (incompatible with 2110S connectors).

Should Adaptec 2110S SCSI RAID controller find the Ultrium 448 Tape?

Another question is that it could or not have problems, but by the moment I only want to know if Adaptec should find this device.

Thanks you.

I don't think HP tests compatibility of third-party HBAs with tape drives.

RAID controllers often don't have support for the SCSI commands tape drives require, so unless

Adaptec has tape support listed, I don't expect it will work.

The HP QuickSpecs for the tape drive will tell you the supported controllers.  You can also look

for the latest info by HP server at http://www.hp.com/go/connect
