Storageworks DLT VS80 detection problem.
Hello,
I just received a new dlt vs80 external tape drive and I am having some issues detecting it. The drive is connected to a adaptec 39160 scsi card. This is the only device connected to the controller and it is terminated at the drive. During the boot process the tape drive is not being detected. Any help wis appreciated.
Thank you.

Jaron, does the HBA POST? check for bent pins and just for the heck of it, CTRL A into the BIOS and disable Wide Negotiation

Re: Storageworks DLT VS80 detection problem.
Hey Lewis,
Thank you for the reply. I tried what you said but the pins were good, I also disabled that feature but had no luck. I tried a terminator ffrom another tape drive and it worked. The terminator that came with it had an green LED lit up on it and an HP tech said that it was supposed to but they are sending me another one.
Thank you.

Re: Storageworks DLT VS80 detection problem.
Hello Jaron,
is your 39160 the only controller installed or do you have multiple controllers? If so, try different slots for the controllers and make sure you have no IRQ-conflicts. I had the same problem recently and could solve it in this way.
Good luck, Uwe
