SureStore DLT80e
When running a backup it always comes up with a message before hand of -
----- TapeAlert Events -----
Warning
Device: QUANTUM 2
The tape drive is having problems reading data. No data has been lost, but there has been a reduction in the performance of the tape.
Any ideas as to how to resolve this?

Re: SureStore DLT80e
This is a tapealert flag coming from the drive, most likely indicating that it is requesting cleaning.
Check the drive front panel - it most likely has the 'Use Cleaning Tape' light turned on.
If so, you should load a non-expired cleaning tape (they are good for only 20 cleanings).
You might also want to check to see if the problem is caused by a particular tape.
Additional troubleshooting can be done by looking at the drive error logs using HP Library & Tape Tools (www.hp.com/support/tapetools).

The journey IS the reward.
