Ultrium 230 Interface Question

Hello,

I have an HP Ultrium 230, and it works great!

Whats that 9-pin white interface next to
the SCSI interface? I cant find anything
on it anywhere.

Thanks

Re: Ultrium 230 Interface Question

It is an Automation Interface connector, and actually is not used in Ultrium 230 tape drives for Proliant.

Re: Ultrium 230 Interface Question

As already stated, this is an automation interface for use when the drive is in a tape library or autoloader. If you want more specifics, the interface is RS422 with a few control signals. With a standalone drive there is no firmware in the drive to communicate with that port so even if you hook up to it you won't be able to communicate. Attaching to the autochanger interface port will disable the SCSI port until commands have been sent to configure the port so not something you want to do in a standalone drive.
