VLS Netbackup deduplication question.

We are currently designing a new backup environment for one of our customers.

We tend to use a VLS6600 in combination with Symantec Netbackup. Since both have the capability to deduplicate the data, then how would the design look like? I can imagine that only one needs to deduplicate the data no?

Any ideas?
