Cannot ping HP 4108GL when directly connected

Hello,

I have a device which performs network monitoring. Among other things it uses ICMP as a form of monitoring, mainly for simple device is it up or down info. It is directly connected to a 4108 same subnet and mask , it can ping everything else on the network and other subnets but not the 4108 it is connected too. Other devices such as the DC which is also directly connected can ping the 4108. Any Ideas?

Swap ports with the DC and see if that makes a difference.

Check the logs to see if it thinks the monitor is some sort of hacker.

See if you have enabled management security on the switch and not put the monitor in as a good guy.

From the monitor, ping the 4108 then do arp -a and see if it gets a MAC for the switch IP.

Verify that you do not have a static ARP in somewhere. Verify that you do not have a duplicate IP.
