Boot from tape

Hello,

I'm trying to boot from my tape to restore a
make_recovery, but when I try to make a SEA command to view all my boot device, my tape device is:

** 10/12.3 Sequential access media

I have "**" and not a P0 or P1 ......P19

What is the meaning of that??

It's OK that there is not a P? number beside the tape drive. To boot from the tape do a 'bo 10/12.3.0'

That should do it for you. When it asks "Interact with IPL' say NO and the system should then boot from your make_recovery tape.

It might not be found. Go into the CO menu and there is an option to reset to default, I can't remember the command. Do that, reboot, then re-run the SEA and see what happens

you can search on a specific bus, see what that returns.

The other thing to do is boot from the hardware path, not the alias.

hey,

I had seen this in my sistem. I think normally it does list up to 19 paths with P1..P19 and if you have more devices, then it lists the rest with '**" . This is not a warning or error. You can try booting with 'bo device_path'
