Re: Create alternate LVM based Boot/OS Environment
Ok Matti..
Can you show me how should I "re-package" my initrd since obviously a running system can't have 2 VGs with the same name.
Am basicaly a HP-UX/Solaris Admin who's has Linux on the side as a hobby....
Thanks.

Re: Create alternate LVM based Boot/OS Environment
Shalom,
Here is a case study that has technical data you might want to try out.
http://aplawrence.com/Linux/lvm.html
Also see:
http://www.softpanorama.org/Commercial_linuxes/logical_volume_manager.shtml
You might also simply try using dd partition by partition. That should get you good, bootable copies that you can later configure for automatic fail over boot.
Just did that with a WINDOWS system hosted by HP-UX HPVM
SEP
131 to Mount Olympus Linux with a Penguin on top.

Matti, Thanks...
I think I got the gist on how I should "repackage".... cuban espresso coffee did it. ;^))

You don't seem to get my picture... I wan't to have 2 LVM based bootable environments. No pulling of disks. Both can be active and mountable so I can move OS files back and forth.
