Error while creating new LV

Hi,

We are getting the below error while we try to create new logical volume. Could you someone help to resolve the issue?

# lvcreate -L 4G vg03
Aborting. Failed to activate new LV to wipe the start of it.

It is a new volume group created with single disk. See the vgdisplay output.

# vgdisplay -v vg03

Re: Error while creating new LV

Shalom,

There appears to be sufficient free space on the volume group to do the command.

Normally I like to tell lvm what disk to use so the new logical volume ends up on the disk I intend for it.

Check vgchange on the volume group. It may not be activated properly or in the correct mode.
