HPUX 11.23 vs HPUX 11.31

Dear all,

I am going to upgrade our Pa-Risc 11.11 to Itanium 11.23 or 11.31
I'm using oracle RAC 10gR2 with oracle cluster on the application side we use McServiceGuard 11.16
and we also have EVA-3000, securePAth.
My original plan was to upgrade to 11.23, but because the migration delays and 11.31 comes out quite sometime now. i would like to upgrade directly to 11.31. i did check with oracle and oracle 10gR2 supports this platform.

can someone please gives me some thoughts on this 11.31.

I would definitely pick 11.31 over 11.23 - mostly because of the end of support dates. Then you also have the additional features available (more dynamic kernel parameters comes to mind).

11.31 is the preferred version. However, do not attempt to upgrade. 11.11 to 11.23 will be almost impossible, especially with Oracle and Service Guard and 11.31 will simply fail. You must cold install 11.31, add all the hardware and software patch bundles, install Service Guard (and other HP products like Online JFS, Mirroring, Glance, etc) and finally Oracle. Note that your current Oracle docs (especially kernel tunables) will not be correct for 11.31 as many classic parameters have disappeared (not needed).
