Re: HPUX Upgrade
First take a Ignite then you can go for upgrade option from the base OS dvd.

Re: HPUX Upgrade
I believe, all the changes made between B.11.23.0409 to B.11.23.0712 should have included in december 2007 bundle hopefully. So no need to go for upgrade from base os.
Normally we will go for OS upgrade if it is one version to another version like v1 to v2 or v2 to v3.

Re: HPUX Upgrade
Do an ignite backup and use update-ux from the latest install media.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: HPUX Upgrade
you have to order the media from HP, which you will receive free of charge if you are under a support contract.
Regarding the upgrade procedure, you can check this thread:
http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1314737
Loading the latest QPK bundles alone, as stated above, does not update OS release.

Re: HPUX Upgrade
out of 4 replys all answers are god but quite confusing .As per Mr.Torsten ,it is not possible to upgrade the OS from 11.23.0609 to 11.23.0712 with applying only december 2007 path bundle.....only way to upgrade thorugh 11.23.0712 OS media only
but other few answers saying it is possible to upgrade with applying only dec2007 patch bundle to make 11.23.0609 t0 11.23.0712 ....
pls authenticate ??

Re: HPUX Upgrade
See my example:
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1241964
This is 11.31, but applies to 11.23 too.
Previous releases up to 11.11 were different.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HPUX Upgrade
the steps are as follows:
1) swcopy the new media that you have got to a directory on the server and create a depot on that.
2) for 11.23 download the latest Update-UX bundle and swinstall that.
3) Use the update-ux command specifying the source as depot created in step1 or can start update-ux in the interactive mode
