HVD10 36Gb disk sync time

Hi there

Can anyone give me an idea of how long it will take to syncronise a 36Gb logical volume on one HVD10 36Gb disk onto a 36Gb disk in a seperate HVD10 on another SCSI bus ? using LVM

It's for some planning estimations - cheers

Cheers

Re: HVD10 36Gb disk sync time

Hi HVD ,

Hope you are talking for vgsync to sync using mirror/UX.
Usually I mirried a LV earlier consisting a single disk of 18GB (SEAGATE ST318404LC) that took 35 Min arround.

So 36GB seems it will take 70Min arround.

Cheers,
Raj.

Is this your vg00? If so, I would give it 45 minutes to an hour and a half if all goes well. That is what was recomended to us when we did our vgsync on vg00. We also ran this in single user mode, so it was faster than if running with the box fully up.

It will be less than an hour but you can use the machije while it is syncing. The mirroring driver is smart enough to handle raed and write requests while mirroring and not get confused. It will slow disk access a bit but still useable.
