Sendmail

Can some one help me ,what is this service is meant ,because it utilising 90% of CPU.

'updatedb' is the process which updates the 'slocate' database on a nightly basis.

If you don't use the 'locate' database, then you can remove the execute permissions from the file '/etc/cron.daily/slocate.cron' (or just remove it) to stop it from running.

That being said, it really shouldn't run for more than a few minutes on a nightly basis, unless a whole lot of changes are occuring.

Very nice to see your reply .on our set up linux box as SMTP gateway and we are restricting the user to send SMTP mails using /etc/aliases database .Can you pl advice we can go ahead to stop the same

Oh yes , you can stop that service. That is nothing to do with Sendmail.
