I find a peculiar problem,
I created a golden image of a Itanium box rx34xx and copied that image in place in the PA-RiSC ignite-UX Server. Now i have to ignite a 3 Itainum box with that golden image.. The new boxes doesnt have os.. from the EFI if i boot through lan, The server is not booting from the ignite ux server.. Whether booting a Itanium box from PA-RISC box is supported ?
To overcome my crisis, i have used one itanium box as the other ignite-UX server and did the same configuration.. Everything is perfectly working there..
your expert opinion is needed..
Thanks!

Re: Unable to boot from Itanium golden image from the PA-Risc ignite server
There are no Itanium rx3xxx. However there are PA-RISC server rp34xx series.
you can't use a golden image of a PA-RISC server and use it to install/boot itanium server. Its currently not supported.
If this answer your question, please assign some points..
Thanks!

Re: Unable to boot from Itanium golden image from the PA-Risc ignite server
My itanium model is
ia64 hp server rx3600. sorry there was a typo.
My Golden image is of Itanium
My Ignite-UX server is PA-RISC
The New Server which i want to build is Itanium.
But your reply was in the assumption of Goldimage is of PA-RISC.
I will surely assign points, let me get some more opinons also.. As my issue still persists..
Thanks!

Re: Unable to boot from Itanium golden image from the PA-Risc ignite server
when Itanium server boot from network, it sends PXE boot request.
PXE is an intel protocol and stands for `preboot execution environment`.
Your PA-RISC may be answering but maybe it lack more info about the Itanium client.
Maybe you could take a look at the dhcpd.conf file in the pa-risc server. It should contain the ncid & class-id parameter to answer PXE boot request from Itanium.
Eg:
dhcp_device_group:\
.
ncid:\
class-id="PXEClient:Arch:00002:.*":\
.
.
.
The class ID above will tell bootpd daemon to respond only to client with a boot request containing PXEClient:Arch:0002 which is for Itanium server.

SolutionA PA-RISC Ignite server can support Ignite boots of Itanium bases servers.
Some configuration (assembly) required.
