You are not allowed to log in! - HPUX 10.20

Hi Folks,

This is happenning to a lot of users.

(<hostname>:root) uname -a
HP-UX <hostname> B.10.20 A 9000/715 2011085613 two-user license
(<hostname>:root) su - <userid>
You are not allowed to log in!
(<hostname>:root)

Any idea, what's wrong?

Have you tried logging in without su(1)?

Yes, I did try.

But it returns the same message, as su returned.

can you reply with

grep <user-name> /etc/passwd

grep <user-name> /etc/shadow

output of  /usr/lbin/getprpw -l username

A few years later, I came to know, a modified /etc/profile, which contained a script to bar non NIS netgroup users, was the cause of my trouble with this one.
