changing root password

Hello All,

I want to know if what i am going to do is right.

I need to change my root password and i was thinking about using the passwd command in order to change the password.
Is this the right thing to do or do i need something extra to do that?

Thanks a lot everyone

Re: changing root password

Hi,

The passwd command should work fine for you and no extra bits are necessary. You do have to be logged in as root to change it though.

Re: changing root password

If you like the GUI way of doing it, and have X-windows access, you can use 'dxaccounts' to change the password for root or any user interactively.
