cimserver process

Could someone explain the cimserver process and what it is used for. I would like to shut it down but want to make sure it will not cause problems on server.

Using rp4440 server with HP 11.23.

it is a part of WBEM utility, which on my servers came to play when we start replacing ISEE with HP-SIM implementation. If you do not have a need to run WBEM application, I think you can safely stop and disable the cimserver process. Page linked above gives you the details you need
