Re: linux command for server model

Don't know if there is a command, but I would guess the information is available in system management homepage for Proliant and Integrity servers.
Because all that servers can have an iLO, you can get the information there too.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: linux command for server model

Try "hpbmc".
# hpbmc
hp AB216A server cx2600
Serial number = SG42412345
System UUID is 7c7bc9fe-d629-11d8-83b0-c68c9c0a12a3
BMC Sub ID = 0x0107
Firmware:
BMC = 2.33
EFI = 1.10
MP = E.03.15
System = 1.10

Re: linux command for server model

I think your best bet is going to be the 'hwinfo' command.

# hwinfo --sys
for generic system info.

# hwinfo --cpu
for cpu information.

# man hwinfo
for information on the command itself.

NOTE -- This is on SLES (SUSE) 10. I don't know if this will work on Red Hat.

Re: linux command for server model

hpbmc should work with Redhat linux. You probably has not installed its package.

Re: linux command for server model

You can install the hpmgmtbase. See document below. The usage on the hpbmc is also available in that document.
http://docs.fc.hp.com/en/5991-7426/5991-7426.pdf

# rpm -Uvh hpmgmtbase-xxxxx.ia64.rpm

the software package is available in the HP Integrity Essentials Foundation Pack for Linux.

Re: linux command for server model

Without installing any HP value add software, you can use "dmidecode".
Red Hat it's in the kernel-utils package, SuSE it's in the pmtools package.

Just running dmidecode will give you a bunch of information.

dmidecode | grep -m1 "Product Name" should give you what your looking for.

Example

scooter:~ # dmidecode | grep -m1 "Product Name"
Product Name: ProLiant DL320s G1
scooter:~ #
