What is the meaning of the following:

patito:root:> mt stat
/dev/nrmt0h: No such device or address

That means that the device special file /dev/nrmt0h, the default assumed by mt, does not exists.

You always should specify the device to operate with using the -f option. For example:

mt -f /dev/tape/tape0c status

In tru64 version 5, tape device names are /dev/ntape/tapeXc and under Tru64 V4 are /dev/nrmtXh.
