/opt deleted by third party installer

We have lost /opt courtesy of a third party installer. To compound the problem we don't have a backup of it. We do have the option of copying /opt from another server, but I don't want to further compromise the knackered server.

Any advice gratefully recieved (apart from doing backups..we know that already!)

Thanks

Hello Steve, advice about what? recover, prevent, discover?

The ext3 linux file system does not allows you to "undelete" data.
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?
