Telnet session

In some of our VMS-systems telnet sessions are marked as "mounted" at show device. What does this mean? Bug?

Re: Telnet session

Hi,

When is telnet session is active, the tna devices will be shown as mounted . This I think is normal. Why you think its a bug ??

Thanks & regards,
Lokesh

Re: Telnet session

Because most of our VMS-systems show "online" as the status of telnet devices.

Re: Telnet session

Hi Kjell,

In the output you pasted, all the tna devices are mounted. Where are the online TNA devices?? Can you please post the output of that system for the above commands.

(sorry if I am asking you a lot )

Thanks & regards,
Lokesh

Re: Telnet session

An example from another system in T2.T. I have not seen any problem about this. Just curious.

Thank you for taking your time. KjellC

Re: Telnet session

OK, I have checked the same on my systems also.

On one system VMS 7.1 & UCX 4.2 is running and there the TNA devices are shown as MOUNTED.

And on another system VMS 7.3-1 & TCPIP V5.3 is running and there TNA devices are shown as ONLINE .

No idea ...I am curious too !!

Re: Telnet session

On the systems I can see UCX V4.x systems show TN devices as mounted and TCPIP V5.x systems show TN devices as online. I guess its just a difference in how the TNDRIVER choses to use those status bits.

Re: Telnet session

And I checked on VMS V5.5 & UCX V3.2 , there the TNA devices are showing as mounted. So, from TCPIP V5 onwards, the devices status bit is set for ONLINE. May be we can find this information in TCPIP V5 release notes.

Best regards,
Lokesh
