cannot logon to HP System Management Homepage v2.0.1.104

I cannot log onto the HP SM v2.0.1.104 - password appears to be invalid - how do i reset it from the server end. I tried under services HP System Management Homepage to change the logon as account to another, but that didn't work.

The prompt is ERROR - login failed

Any thoughts ?

Re: cannot logon to HP System Management Homepage v2.0.1.104

System Management queries the local user names and passwords. Just login with the local admin account....Took me a while to figure that one out.

What if the server is a domain controller? There would be no local users available to login as.

Re: cannot logon to HP System Management Homepage v2.0.1.104

If its a domain controller I think you should be able to use the domain admin account...you know, the builtin administrator account. I imagine you could use any domain account so long as it has admin rights on that server.

I am currently confiruing the ILO and SM ports on all our HP servers, we have about 8 DCs that are all HPs too. Ill post what i find when i get to those.

Hi Valdemar,

The HP Forums is a peer-to-peer discussion area, where like-minded professionals gather to exchange knowledge, best practices, and experience. While HP does not guarantee an "HP response" in these forums, HP provides this tool as a means for customers to communicate on a peer-peer basis and also provides moderators to assist as necessary and as time allows.

If you have a particular issue with an HP product or service, you need to contact the appropriate HP group by going to http://www.hp.com and clicking on "contact hp". For more information about these Forums and you can refer to the following link:

I hope this helps clarify the purpose of these forums.

Thanks,
Sandhya

Re: cannot logon to HP System Management Homepage v2.0.1.104

Apparently my previous statement was partially right. On some servers we have reseting the local admin password works and it will let you login. And on some it doesnt do squat...

Also i have not gottent the "Delete CPQHMMD.ACL file and it should reset it" to work.

I think ive tried everything but a sledge hammer.

And i doubt im going to tear appart 42 servers just to reset the cmos battery.

Had the same problem on a DC. Use netbiosdomain\user with the admin account. Worked a treat for me.

Re: cannot logon to HP System Management Homepage v2.0.1.104

Hi,

I've read your problem. I did have contact with HP. There is a link (http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-0710/ch13s01.html ) for the doc's but this is only if your server is NOT a DC! For the DC's you will have to wait for about a month, then version 7.30 will come and it should have solved the problem.

This also goes for insight manager from HP.

Good Luck!

Re: cannot logon to HP System Management Homepage v2.0.1.104

I had the same problem and resolved it.

Use the login:

[DOMAIN_NAME}\Administrator (no \\ or extra slashes.

For example:

If your domain is MYDOMAIN and the Adminstrator account is ADMINISTRATOR:

Login:

MYDOMAIN\ADMINISTRATOR

and for the password, put the Administrator's password for the domain.

It works PERFECTLY for me!

Re: cannot logon to HP System Management Homepage v2.0.1.104

Have DC and, regardless of username format, I'm getting the login failed.

Tried:
administrator
domain/administrator
administrator@domain.local

Painful

Thanks to Joey Albert! His approach works just fine -

MYDOMAIN\ADMINISTRATOR

and for the password, put the Administrator's password for the domain.

Re: cannot logon to HP System Management Homepage v2.0.1.104

Hi, I had the same problem after installing SBS 2003 R2 on a proliant ML350 server. After some attempts i have found the mistake I made was that I entered the full domain name(i.e mydomainname.local\administrator).

The solution for me was to get rid of the .local part of my domain name (i.e. mydomainname\administrator).

I hope this helps.

Re: cannot logon to HP System Management Homepage v2.0.1.104

Recently found a workaround on how to reset / recover the password for the HP System Management Homepage for servers that are running HTTP Server v5.94.0

Just go to the directory:
c:\compaq\wbem\homepage

Edit the following files :
- cpqhmmd.ini

AnonymousAccess=True
LocalSecurityAccess=true
SleepModeCheck=false

- cpqhmmdx.ini

LocalAccessEnabled=true
LocalAccessType=Administrator

Then restart the services of HP from the Services mmc console of windows (particularly the HP Insight Foundation Agent service)

Then try to open the manage homepage again. You should be able to access the site. Your browser will use the ADMINISTRATOR access by default.

Just dont forget that as soon as you are logged in change the password and revert the changes that you have made to the mentioned files. And restart the services again to ensure that youll restore the security settings.

Hope this helps.

Re: cannot logon to HP System Management Homepage v2.0.1.104

In some circumstances (like one I've just tried on an ML310 G1 with PSP 7.91A), you need to be very specific with the domain and use the NETBIOS name, not fully qualify it. In this instance, this wasn't just a case of truncating something like '.local' from the domain name but actually looking up the correct NETBIOS name.

This was actually hinted at before but I thought I'd make that distinction here.
