How do I configure the HP Surestore E Tape Library 2/20 to my L-Class server connected through Fibre channel cable. With the command ioscan -fn it looks like this.
ext_bus 5 0/7/0/0.8.0.255.7 fcpdev CLAIMED INTERFACE FCP Device Interface.
This system is installed and configured by HP and I shall install omniback II 4.0.
The device file that are created is named /dev/scsi/tapelib and looks like this (ll /dev/scsi):
crw-rw-rw- 1 root sys 203 0x050000 Oct 3 11:52 tapelib
When I try to test the library with mc I got "no such device or address". If I configure a device in Omniback using this device file I can??t scan tape or do backups, I got the same kind of error message.
My question: Is the device file different if the library is connected throught fibre instead of scsi. Is my device file correct.
Best Regards
Bro

Re: How to configure a device file for 2/20 library with fibre channel?
Read this document through this link:
http://www.hp.com/cposupport/manual_set/lpg28458.pdf
Also, check whether you have the patch PHKL_22460 installed.
http://europe-support.external.hp.com/wpsl/bin/doc.pl/screen=wpslDisplayPatch/sid=2cb44bad024957ca50
Download the latest patch PHKL_25675 or replacing patch PHKL_22759 if you have it.
HTH,
Vince

For the robotic arm configure the scsi changer "schgr" in kernel.
Thanks.

Re: How to configure a device file for 2/20 library with fibre channel?
The problem was the device file. When I changed it from 0x050000 to 0x05b000 it start working.
The output from ioscan was:
unknown -1 0/7/0/0.8.0.255.7.11.0 UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN HP C7200.
If you translate 11.0 to hex you got b0 instead of 00 in my original device file.
