Slow Restore throughput
I am running BackupExec 8.5 and recently had to go through a full server restore. It took around 46 hours to restore 47 GB of data. We are getting around 16 to 20 mb per minute on the restore
I am looking at reasonably fast backup performance ranging from 167 Mb/Min to 293 Mb/Min depending on which server I am backing up.
I am currently using a 5.1 server as my backup server and am backing up/restoring a combination of 5.0 and 5.1 servers. It does not seem to make a difference on the patch levels thus far. I worked with Novell a bit on this and have put the latest SP2a, CLIB's, TSA's and the latest NSSD's on the backup server and some of the other servers. Through it all I have seen no improvement in throughput.
I have also been in touch with Veritas re this matter but no luck with them either. They claim a restore should only take about twice as long as the backup.
I have 2 35/70 DLT drives in my TL891
Any ideas?
Connie
