Re: SureStore DAT40e - Tape Drive Error Detected

I don't think so - there are no hard read errors in the drive.

Send your email address to ltt_team@hp.com, and I can give you a password to downgrade the firmware. I don't think that would be the cause, but that would be an easy one to rule out.

LTT tried to do a 112K byte read through the OS, and it came back rejected. It most likely happened in the OS or the card driver, not the tape drive firmware (my best guess). I suspect the same thing happens when you try to catalog through the backup software.

Re: SureStore DAT40e - Tape Drive Error Detected
In response to your previous message on formatting tapes.
This tape was written by NTBackup on the same machine that the restore is being attempted.
Using a brand new tape, NTBack reports a blank tape. The formating option is greyed out on the menu. I believe, and would appreciate verificaton, that 4mm tapes come preformated from hp.
Is there any additional levels of detail that TLL can tell us?
Thanks,
Kirk
