data protector & ESL 712 recover data from a recyled tape drive

hi,

i m using Data protector 5.5 with ESL 712
i have accidently recyled very important data on a tape drive . is there a way i can recover the data from this recyclyed tape .

please help.

It is unlikely but it depends on what commands were used to "recycle" the tape. Your best chance of help would be to repost this question to the Data Protector forum.

You don't say what type of tape drives you are using in your 712 that may effect the answer.

Most tape drives (LTO included) will write a new end of data (EOD) to the drive in various circumstances and once that is done there is no way to recover the data past that point.
