disaster recovery with windows 2003

Hi everybody, I'm trying to test a disaster recovery on HP proliant DL380 G4 with a HP Ultrium 215 , the O.S. is windows 2003 with SP1; I've already installed the Yosemite TapeWare 7.0 Service Pack and the hot fix. When I boot the server with the CD created with tapeware it copies the files on hard disk but when the server starts with the S.O. installed from the CD I see for a moment a grey screen of windows 2003 but the server reboots by itself.

Step One replace UNIT with a HPUX system. Just kidding :).

Veritas makes a product called baremetel which will recover the OS much like ghost. If you are trying to achieve a image it can be a real problem with windows though because in the event of a real disaster you likely will not have the same hardware which will make recovering windows very difficult from this style of backup. Your best bet is to backup the files, rebuild the OS and restore any data.

Hi Fausto,

Verify that you followed tapeware TID# 001655 documentation notes.

Even veritas suffered same issue (regarless of "bare metal" features)

have a look at this:
