Alphaserver DS10 memory configuration problem
I have here in my workshop two DS10. One is a 466MHz machine, the other is 600MHz. The 466 runs fine with 2x 128MB of ram but if I install 2x 512MB then it beeps 6 times, meaning that ram is not configured correctly. The same 512MB modules are working in the 600MHz model.
My question is:
What is the maximum memory module size for the 466MHz DS10? Is there a limitation to sizes smaller than 513MB?
Of course it is also possible that the mainboard is faulty because I got this machine here for repair. DS10 documentation is a bit hard to find. On the OARS database all the documents are missing.

Just slightly more than a "glossy" technical spec sheet it does talk about memory config on the DS10 a bit.
http://www.compaq.com/alphaserver/archive/ds10/ds10_tech.html - other info
http://www.compaq.com/alphaserver/download/ek_ds10s_ur_c01.pdf - beep codes
Hope those help

Re: Alphaserver DS10 memory configuration problem
Thanks for the links. That's the documents I also found in the Net. These are basically only overviews for sales people. The beep code table is usually much longer for example.
Anyway, I found what I was looking for because in the first document is a table with the supported RAM sizes. There is no difference for the two CPU speeds.
A tip for others looking for DS10 beep codes.... I think the Alphaserver800 uses more or less the same codes. At least this list helped me to find another problem on the DS10. AS800 beep codes can be found more easily.
