Upgrade speed of ethernet LAN card

Currently our system is running on 100Mbps speed for the ethernet LAN card (ewa0).

1)Can we upgrade the ethernet LAN card to 1000Mbps?

2)If possible, what command use for configure it?

Re: Upgrade speed of ethernet LAN card

Hi
ewa0, so it must be OpenVMS.
If the card does not support 1000Mbps then you will not be able to upgrade it via firmware etc. so there is no command

Therefore your options are:
1: replace the card & reconfigure
2: add in a new card & reconfigure

Re: Upgrade speed of ethernet LAN card

Hi,

Yes, our system are running on openvms environment.

Questions:
!) How we check the ethernet LAN card (ewa0) can support the speed of 1000Mbps?

2) Is that possible for us to change the speed of 1000Mbps in console (>>>) prompt without the changing of ethernet LAN card?

Thanks for the reply...

Re: Upgrade speed of ethernet LAN card

Hi,

1: NO, you will need to replay the card as there are no settings at the os or console to change type of adapter that you have. From the ewa0 device driver I expect that the card is a DE450 or DE500

2: from the conosle type in "show config"
Look for the ewa0 device & you will probably see de500. For your information:
EISA - er*0 = DE2xx
PCI - ew*0 = DE4xx or DE5xx
PCI - ei*0 = DE6xx
PCI - eg*0 = gigabit interface card

You will need to get something like a DEGPA which is 10/100/1000 interface & at least firmware V5.4. If you are using a DS/ES/GS Alpha system then the latest console f/w is V7.2 so you should be up round there anyway.
